Humble Cow Ice Cream is small batch, handcrafted ice cream producer with a strong belief in connecting with their Pacific Northwest community. Humble Cow supports sustainability and locally-sourced ingredients and strives to make ice cream that is uncompromising in quality and a favorite neighborhood hangout.

The chosen strategy of Humble Cow Ice Cream was to build a brand with approachability, centered around community where everyone is welcome.

Naming can be a difficult challenge for any new business owner. I worked with my client and together we developed a list of potential names and I sketched out logo ideas. Once my client saw the cow visual come together, she had no doubt that Humble Cow Ice Cream would be her final choice.

Retail Space

When plans began for the Humble Cow store front, my client immediately brought me on board to help. We did not want to lose sight of the brand as the interior designer started planning the space and wanted to take into account all aspects—from displaying the pints to playful wall typography with my client’s favorite song lyric.

The menu display execution was critical as my client makes ice cream daily and the flavors often change week by week. She needs the flexibilty to swap out flavor panels depending on what is in season and what flavors inspire her.

We created a shop where people feel comfortable, can take their time and hang out with friends and family enjoying a tasty treat.

ONLINE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

The Humble Cow brand has a strong presence online—not only with their website but through social media. Instagram and Facebook have been a successful driver to reach the masses and it shows in the amount of weekly followers. As we began planning the Humble Cow online customer experience, we chose to dedicate time to posting frequently—using beautiful photography and personalized messaging.

THE RESULTS

Our branding has helped Humble Cow’s retail space and products become a runaway success. Their identity is well recognized throughout the region with lines reliably out the door rain or shine. For proof of the power of the brand, you need look no further than the shear number of customers—ice cream in hand—that pose for a picture in front of the lyric wall or the illuminated marquee sign outside.
